Day 3 and going STRONG!

Woke up at 4:45 am today and I knew today was going to be a great day. I knew the machines I needed would not be in use and there would be barely anyone at the gym - and as luck would have it, I was right.

Jack got up 5 minutes after me and before I knew it we were out the door! He worked out his legs + cardio in his section and I finally got to work out my upper body:
5 sets of 10
Lat pulldown 30 lb
Seated row 35 lb
Deltoid fly 30 lb
^ machines

Bicep curl (dumb bell) 10 lb
+ 20 minutes of cardio - although my fitbit swears it's been 28 minutes.

Originally I wanted to include a standing shoulder press using the 20 lb straight bar but my arms felt so weak after the first (3) machines - I knew I wasn't going to be able to complete a set so I will most likely be doing that as my first exercise tomorrow morning. Yep! Attempting 2 days in a row to workout early morning.

I'm also not sure if it's a good idea or a bad idea to work out on an empty stomach. First thing in the morning it's not like I'm STARVING. I just have some water and I'm good. Although I have to admit, after the workout I was falling asleep just sitting in the chair waiting for Jack to finish his work out, shower and then we could leave. I'm gross - if we don't have a clinic, I just go to work in my gym clothes, reapply my deodorant and I'm easy peasy. I am legit disgusting. But I do shower after work..

Today's food plan
Meal 1 (and post work out): 1 apple and .. SHIT! I'm just realizing I'm having my corn chips with flax as a snack. There goes my 5% for the day - now I have to be super good the rest of the day. Ugh.
Meal 2: baby carrots with 1/2 protein shake
Meal 3: tender reds, spinach, baby kale, ranch dressing (no croutons)
Meal 4: omelette - will update how many eggs, maybe pick up some sweet potatoes to add to the omelette, will see though. Stay tuned.

Exhausted.

I am definitely feeling the after affects of eating crappy foods. Do you ever feel oddly tired? Especially since you're well rested and haven't over worked your body..? That's me right now. Although it's not odd at all. I noticed when I eat foods that have little to zero nutritional value my body reacts in a sluggish state. Over the weekend I indulged to a point where I just feel exhausted. I'm staring at the computer blogging and I can barely keep my eyes open . It's lunch time thank goodness so I could take a nap if I wanted to. However, that would be such a tease to my eyes and mental state. Today started off super frustrating as my co-worker did not show up. Generally Monday's are insanely busy. The office is closed on Fridays so we have messages from Thursday evening all the way up until Sunday night. The number of messages ranges between 20-40 and usually 30 (or so) fax messages. Returning those messages alone while having the phones ringing in ...

Sleeping.

I feel like I've always taken advantage of sleep. The power of sleep - not one of life's wonders. You get a good night sleep, you're able to function properly the next day. I never truly appreciated the act of sleep until last night. I'm in bed roughly by 9 pm maybe 9:30 pm and I'm a light sleeper. (perfect mom quality might I add) Jack on the other hand goes to bed around 10:30 pm or 11:00 pm. He admitted he has FOMO - F ear O f M issing O ut but in regards to TV / Facebook videos so he's up watching something so that's the reason why he doesn't go to bed at the same time as me. Well last night the Leaf game was on - and I can only assume that they lost because I didn't hear any screaming at the TV then again I didn't hear anger either and Jack's pretty loud when it comes to Leaf games (major hockey fan). I only heard around 11:19 pm that he was heading to bed. And then the loud breathing started. I can't really tell if it'...

Rant on perfumes / cologne

Found this rant in my iPhone notebook: Ladies. Why do you bathe in perfume? Some men do it too but I had to bring it up for a little rant because I was just outside walking to the bus stop and all I could smell was perfume and I was still 10 or 15 steps away. There was a woman waiting in the shelter. Decked out as if she was going downtown to pick up an older man in the financial district. Either that or she works in a top notch hair salon... I can't even make a joke properly because my head is still fuzzy from that smell. When I am in a closed space and someone sprays perfume (an abundance of it) I get light headed accompanied by a headache. It's not fun at all. I'm not the only one either which is the reason why most gym change rooms have signs not allowing perfumes to be sprayed. Same with certain departments in the hospital. Nurses shouldn't wear perfume because of the contact with some patients. Anyways, all I'm saying is - even though YOU can't ...
